Latexfalt BV developes a silent joint.

Latexfalt BV developed a silent joint in cooperation with Gebroeders of Kessel Special Techniques and Products BV and Kraton Polymers; interesting case of knowledge integration within the supply chain!

RWS have started the project “silent & durable joints” on 20 December 2007. Aim was to invite the industry to produce ideas and start to development joints which are both quietly and durable. RWS will test the bests four ideas, both in the laboratory and in practice. In this way the invited market parties and RWS meet rapidly to practically applicable solutions for an urgent problem. At first jury appraisal the invited parties were selected on the criteria: noise nuisance at to build in (1), sound reduction during life span (7), sustainability (7), costs (3) and environment friendly (2).

By the jury best ten registrations chosen, sustainability was calculated by finite elements model (EEM). Eventually the bests four ideas have been selected for the laboratory and (semi-) practice tests. The four winning innovative joints were tested [2009] in the movement simulator (low temperature behavior) and in the LINTRACK-simulator (high temperature behavior). Also, in spring of 2009 the four winning innovative joints were built in the A50. The joints will be monitored intensively for two years on especially sound reduction and sustainability. Beginning 2011 all researches will be evaluated and estimations will be calculated for durability.

One of the four winning ideas was initiated by Gebroeders of Kessel Special Techniques and Products BV in cooperation with Latexfalt BV and Kraton Polymers.
